For the first time, Cy Springs JR ROTC, cheerleaders, and step team (YMPA/YLPA) marched and performed at downtown Houston for the Martin Luther King Parade on Jan. 21. The event included many other schools, which had also marched and performed.

"Since many people who were watching perceive us as future leaders, we set examples and showed everyone that we have determination to march for what we believe in and it helps us acknowledge our purposes," said corps commander of ROTC Sole' Ibarra.

Not only did Cy Springs perform for the MLK Parade, Cy Springs also gained a lot from the march. What the organizations had acquired from the march was more of an insight of how the Cypress community can impact others.

"The parade enhanced my experience as a cheerleader because it allowed us to be acknowledged by more than just our school and Cypress community," said cheerleader Rose Hernandez. "We got many compliments from many other organizations, and even got asked to perform at Texas Southern University for a pep rally."
