The Cy Springs Cheerleaders attended the Houston Rockets game, and performed during halftime on Sunday.

“Cypress Fairbanks ISD believes in the ‘Opportunity For ALL’ and this was truly one tremendous opportunity that will be talked about for a long time,” said director of instruction Dr. Plas Williams. “I knew the day was remarkable when our cheer team manager described the experience as exhilarating and one she would definitely want to do again.”

The Rockets were victorious over the Orlando Magic 103-98. James Harden led the team by scoring 40 points.

“Just being there was awesome; I love the Rockets and I love James (Harden)!” said cheerleader Caroline Gonzalez “It was great being able to be backstage and seeing the Rockets players was really cool.”

For some of the cheerleaders this was their first time performing in front of a large crowd, but for returning members Rose Hernandez and Caroline Gonzalez this was their second time performing with the drill team. The team learned a kick routine and practiced with the drill sergeants backstage. When the second quarter of the game finished it was showtime.

“It was truly an experience I won’t forget, I had never been to an NBA game,” said cheerleader D’Erica Lewis. “So being given the opportunity to not only watch a game, but perform was a once in a lifetime chance that I’m so thankful to be apart of.”
