Senior Daniel B. Solomon has been named a Commended Student in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Corporation will be presented to him by the school’s principal Dr. Cheryl Henry.

“I feel really relieved that I was able to do this”, said Solomon. “It really brings round the effort that I put into it.”

Throughout the nation, 34,00 students are being recognized for their scholastic talent. Although Solomon will not continue in the 2020 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, he is among the top 50,00 scorers out of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said a spokesperson for NMSC in a news release.” These students represent a value national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.”
