Cy Springs begins year with Legacy launch

Last week, Cy Springs held its first ever Legacy dedication after its annual freshman Fish Camp.

Principal Dr. Cheryl Henry spoke to incoming freshman, students and parents after Fish Camp about the statue’s history, and gave thanks to donors and their contributions that enabled the statue to be built.

Money Matters makes national honor

In April, the Cy Springs Money Matters teams were invited to the Capitol Hill Challenge by representing Congressman Michael McCaul. The teams also made top 13 percent out of over 2,000 other teams participating in the challenge.

Decision Day coming May 2

Cy Springs will hold Decision Day from 1-2:40 p.m. on May 2 in the performance gym. This Decision Day is a celebration to honor the seniors who will be going to college,and also to acknowledge military commitments and other accomplishments.

New bond vote could bring changes to district

On Feb. 4 2018, the CFISD school board proposed the idea of an election to decide issuing a bond to enhance the environment of schools by 2025, and scheduled a session on Feb. 11 of the next year to further discuss it. During its meeting on the scheduled date, the Board of Trustees approved the proposal of  the $1.762 billion bond to use in the renovating of Cypress-Fairbanks facilities, safety and security, transportation, and technology.

Senior Picnic coming April 18

At 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on April 18 at the back fields of Cy Springs the seniors will have the first ever senior picnic. In order to be eligible to participate, all seniors must have paid their fines and fees, and they must have their grey senior shirt on.

Cy Springs celebrates big Signing Day

Multiple Cy Springs athletes signed to their colleges of choice on Wednesday in the performance gym to further their athletic and academic career for Signing Day. Football player Myles Mass revealed his choice of University of Texas as a walk-on, and cross country runner Allen Gonzalez chose Texas Southern University. Basketball player Bonke Maring selected Blinn College, and swimmer Gabe Moon-Puente signed on with University of Montevalo.
